HARIBO issues major recall of Happy Cola F!ZZ candies in Netherlands and Belgium
Selected one-kilogram batches linked to health risks, including severe dizziness and fatigue, prompting urgent consumer warnings

HARIBO has announced a significant recall of its popular Happy Cola F!ZZ candies across the Netherlands and Belgium due to potential health hazards. The announcement follows reports from consumers in both countries who have experienced symptoms such as severe dizziness and fatigue after eating certain one-thousand-gram packages of the candy. The company clarified that the recall is limited to specific batches identified by production codes and expiration dates, which can be cross-referenced with images and information provided by HARIBO.
The recall comes after a Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) notification and further investigation by the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FAVV), which identified risks particularly in batches with a best-before date of January 2026. HARIBO has strongly advised consumers not to eat any candies that match the recalled batches’ details, urging them to check packaging carefully for the relevant production information. Consumers who have purchased the affected products are encouraged to contact HARIBO for further instructions and possible reimbursement.
Importantly, HARIBO has reassured the public that the issue involves only three specific packages and that all other HARIBO products remain safe to enjoy. The company emphasized its commitment to consumer safety and is actively working with regulatory agencies to ensure that affected products are swiftly removed from shelves. Shoppers in the Netherlands and Belgium are urged to double-check their Happy Cola F!ZZ purchases and stay updated through HARIBO’s official channels.
