Official statistics reveal regional trends and cultural diversity in Belgium’s top baby name choices, with distinct favorites across Flandre, Valon, and Brussels

Belgium’s official statistics office has announced the most popular baby names for this year, with Olivia and Noah once again leading the list. Among girls, Emma and Louise maintained their high rankings beside Olivia, continuing a trend from recent years. For boys, the name Noah kept its top position, closely followed by Arthur and Jules in the annual name rankings.

The report highlights significant regional differences reflecting Belgium’s cultural diversity. In Flandre, English-influenced names such as Finn are on the rise, indicating a shift in naming preferences among new parents. Conversely, the Valon region showcased a preference for names like Alba, Giulia, and Jade, demonstrating the influence of French-speaking and southern European trends.

Brussels, known for its international flavor, exhibited the greatest variety in baby name choices, with names like Sofia and Nour standing out among new births. Meanwhile, among the overall population, Maria and Marc remain the most common first names, with Peeters, Janssens, and Maes as the leading surnames across Belgium.
