President Trump Announces U.S. to Close Venezuelan Airspace
Trump warned that all flights and operations in and around Venezuela's airspace would be completely halted, as tensions mount in the region

President Donald Trump stated via social media that the United States will shut down all airspace over Venezuela and its surrounding region. In his post, he urged all airlines, pilots, drug traffickers, and human traffickers to take the closure seriously and thanked them for their attention to the matter. The move is part of a wider effort to control illegal activities, including drug trafficking, in Latin America.
In response, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ordered his Air Force to be on high alert against possible attacks, declaring that the country is undergoing an existential crisis. Maduro announced the mobilization of 4.5 million militia members, emphasizing that Venezuela is prepared to defend itself against any form of aggression and remains unified in the face of external threats.
The U.S. administration has recently increased military actions in the region, including sending warships and submarines off the Venezuelan coast and deploying the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford. These steps, taken under the banner of fighting drug cartels, have drawn criticism from the international community. Venezuelan officials argue that U.S. actions targeting vessels suspected of drug smuggling are violations of international law. With Trump’s latest announcement, regional tensions are expected to escalate further.
