Europe prepares to switch to winter time this weekend

Clocks in European countries will be turned back one hour early Sunday morning as the winter time period officially begins on October 26, 2025

This weekend, countries across Europe are preparing to switch to winter time, with the change taking effect on Sunday, October 26, 2025. On the night from Saturday to Sunday, clocks will be set back one hour from 3:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. local time. This adjustment means an extra hour of sleep for residents as the winter schedule comes into effect.

The winter time practice, intended to conserve energy, has been observed in Europe for many years. Citizens will wake up on Sunday morning already adjusted to the new time, and the winter period will last until March 30, 2026, when daylight saving time begins once again across the continent.

Meanwhile, Turkey will not participate in the clock change, as the country continues to observe a permanent time policy. Turkish residents will keep their clocks unchanged, so there will be no shift or adjustment required in Turkey this weekend.
