Investigation underway into alleged abuse of 4-year-old girl at Bulgarian kindergarten
Authorities in the city of Kableshkovo, near Burgas, Bulgaria, are probing claims of sexual abuse involving a young child at a local preschool after concerns were raised by the child’s family.

Prosecutors in Bulgaria have launched an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a 4-year-old girl at a kindergarten in Kableshkovo, a city under Burgas. Although indications of the incident surfaced back in January, it wasn’t until recently that officials made their first public statement about the case. The situation came to light after the child’s family noticed unusual changes in her behavior following her enrollment at the preschool.
According to reports, the young girl initially remained silent, but her parents noticed injuries on her fingernails and were prompted to question her further. Eventually, the child disclosed that she had been frequently beaten and touched inappropriately by a teacher. Following these revelations, the family took her for a medical examination, which detected traumatic injuries on her hands and genital area.
After the family reported the incident to police, a formal investigation was triggered. However, controversy arose over delays in the expert medical report, which took from April until September to be prepared. The final report found no evidence of trauma on the child’s body. Burgas Regional Prosecutor Maria Markova noted that the differing medical assessments from private institutions made it difficult to determine their reliability. She emphasized the priority of clarifying the facts, citing the lack of qualified experts as a factor in the investigation’s slow progress. At this time, no formal charges have been filed, and the main focus remains on verifying if a crime actually occurred and identifying any possible perpetrator.
