Belgian Police Release Suspects’ Images After Deadly Attack, Appeal for Public Assistance

Authorities investigating a fatal assault in Zeebruges have shared video and photos of the suspected attackers, urging citizens to help identify the perpetrators.

Belgian police are intensifying their investigation after a brutal attack left one person dead in the port city of Zeebruges on the evening of August 22, 2025. According to official reports, two unidentified individuals assaulted a local citizen around 10:15 p.m. before fleeing the scene. Despite officers arriving quickly after the tip-off, the victim had already succumbed to their injuries. Witnesses described the suspects leaving the area at high speed, prompting law enforcement to launch a wide-scale investigation.

Based on eyewitness statements, the first suspect is described as heavyset, with a completely shaved head and a tattoo on the inside of his right forearm. He was seen wearing a blue shirt matched with blue shorts and dark Crocs-style shoes. The second suspect is said to be of average build, sporting short dark hair with a receding hairline, a mustache, and a goatee. He reportedly wore a blue Adidas sweatshirt, black shorts, black sandals, and carried a black Nike backpack. Authorities are considering the possibility that the attackers may be Eastern European truck drivers.

To advance the investigation, the Belgian Federal Police have published both video and photographs of the suspects on their official channels. They are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the individuals involved and have provided local and international tip lines: 0800/30 300 within Belgium and 0032 2 554 44 88 for calls from abroad. Police have assured that updates regarding the case will continue to be shared with the public as the situation develops.
